First Aid Awards (FAA) is the Awarding Body. The approved training centre is NUCO Training. These courses can be delivered on a 1:1 basis or through course.

FAA LEVEL 1 AWARD IN HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE (RQF)

The qualification is an introduction to health and safety in the workplace and can form part of an employee’s induction programme or a basis for a learner wishing to gain higher levels of training in this area. The qualification provides learners with a basic knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace under UK health and safety legislation ensuring that the working environment is safe and healthy.

Pre-requisites: Learners are aged at least 14 years of age

Course delivery: This can be delivered face-to-face (minimum of 4 hours) or blended learning (2 hours guided self-study and webinars with 2 hours face-to-face or video conferencing)

Assessment: Learners will complete a written assessment or for distance learning format, a professional discussion with the trainer/assessor through video conferencing software.

FAA LEVEL 2 AWARD IN HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE (RQF)

The qualification is aimed at learners in a variety of work environments and will develop awareness of health and safety within an organisation. The qualification provides learners with essential knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace under UK health and safety legislation and is also an ideal platform to higher level training or career development.

Pre-requisites: Learners are aged at least 16 years of age

Course delivery: This can be delivered face-to-face (minimum of 6 hours) or blended learning (3 hours guided self-study and webinars with 3 hours face-to-face or video conferencing)

Assessment: Learners will complete a written assessment or for distance learning format, a professional discussion with the trainer/assessor through video conferencing software.

FAA LEVEL 3 AWARD IN HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE (RQF)

The Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is aimed at people working or preparing to work in a supervisory or managerial position in respect of health and safety and is relevant to all employment sectors providing understanding of key health and safety topics. It is also suitable for people wanting to advance their health and safety knowledge.

Pre-requisites: Learners are aged at least 16 years of age.

Course delivery: This can be delivered face-to-face three day course (minimum of 18 hours)

Assessment: Learners will complete a written assessment.

FAA LEVEL 2 AWARD IN FIRST AID FOR MENTAL HEALTH (RQF)

This 6-hour qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions, start a supportive conversation, and when and how to signpost someone to professional help. Learners will learn how to recognise and manage stress and understand the impact of substance abuse. Learners will learn about the first aid action plan for mental health, be able to put the plan in place, and understand how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace. Learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals, but will be able to identify when a person may have a suspected mental health condition, offer reassurance and support, and know where they can go to get help.

Pre-requisites: Learners are aged at least 14 years of age

Course delivery: This can be delivered face-to-face or continuous contact by video conferencing call (minimum of 6 hours) or blended learning (3 hours guided self-study and webinars with 3 hours face-to-face or video conferencing).

Assessment: Learners will complete a written assessment and practical demonstration of the first aid action plan for mental health. For the distance learning format, a professional discussion and practical demonstration of the first aid action plan for mental health with the trainer/assessor through video conferencing software.

FAA LEVEL 3 AWARD IN SUPERVISING FIRST AID FOR MENTAL HEALTH (RQF)

This qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a wide range of mental health conditions and learn about the support/therapy provided by professional healthcare providers. They will know how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help. Learners will recognise and manage stress and understand the impact of substance abuse. Learners will learn about the first aid action plan for mental health, be able to put the plan in place, and understand how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace. Learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals, but will be able to identify when a person may have a suspected mental health condition, offer reassurance and support, and know where they can go to get help.

Successful learners completing this qualification will become a ‘First Aider for Mental Health’ and be able to utilise the skills and knowledge gained within their workplace and private life.

Course delivery: The course is a minimum of two days. This can be delivered face-to-face or continuous contact by video conferencing call (minimum of 12 hours) or blended learning (6 hours guided self-study and webinars with 6 hours face-to-face or video conferencing).

Assessment: Learners will complete two written assessment and practical demonstration of the first aid action plan for mental health. For the distance learning format, a professional discussion and practical demonstration of the first aid action plan for mental health with the trainer/assessor through video conferencing software.
